吳明勳為國立成功大學機械工程學系副教授，主持反應流實驗室。2007 年取得美國賓夕法尼亞州大學機械工程博士學位，同年加入成大任教迄今。期間曾於2008年返回美國賓夕法尼亞州大學短期研究，及於2025年11月至2026年2月赴日本京都大學擔任客座副教授。研究領域涵蓋近臨界尺度爆震物理、奈米含能材料、綠色推進、零碳燃料燃燒、純氧燃燒與超臨界 CO₂ 動力循環。Ming-Hsun Wu is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University and Director of the Reacting Flow Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 2007 and joined the NCKU faculty the same year. He returned to Penn State as a visiting researcher in 2008 and served as Visiting Associate Professor at Kyoto University from November 2025 to February 2026. His research covers near-critical-scale detonation physics, nanoenergetic materials, green propulsion, zero-carbon fuel combustion, oxy-fuel combustion, and supercritical CO₂ power cycles.
2008 年以「微尺度管內火焰加速與爆震轉變」研究獲第 31 屆國際燃燒研討會傑出論文獎。2010 年獲頒國際燃燒學會 Bernard Lewis 獎；2012 年獲科技部優秀年輕學者計畫補助。2011 至 2016 年間主持兩項國家型能源科技計畫，並於成大建置成大數百千瓦級先導型純氧燃燒實驗設施。2024年起與中國鋼鐵公司合作執行經濟部科專計劃研發氫／氨低 NOx 燃燒技術。2007 年以來主持超過 45 件研究計畫；指導超過 40 位碩士、3 位博士後研究員。並自2018年起主持教育部能源資源總中心計畫，推廣能源素養教育。曾任 IDERS（爆震與反應系統動力學機構）及中華民國燃燒學會理事，並擔任《燃燒季刊》與《台電工程月刊》編輯委員。現任中華民國燃燒學會理事長。His work on flame acceleration and deflagration-to-detonation transition in microscale tubes earned the Distinguished Paper Award at the 31st International Symposium on Combustion (2008). He received the Bernard Lewis Fellowship from the Combustion Institute in 2010 and the Excellent Young Scholar Program award from the National Science Council in 2012. From 2011 to 2016 he led two National Energy Program projects and commissioned a pilot-scale (hundreds of kW) oxy-combustion facility at NCKU. Since 2024 he has collaborated with China Steel Corporation on a Ministry of Economic Affairs program developing low-NOx hydrogen/ammonia combustion technology. Since 2007 he has served as Principal Investigator on over 45 research projects and supervised more than 40 master's students and 3 postdoctoral fellows. Since 2018 he has directed the Ministry of Education's Energy Resource Center Program, promoting energy literacy education. He previously served on the boards of IDERS (Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems) and the Combustion Institute of the Republic of China, and on the editorial boards of Combustion Quarterly and the Monthly Journal of Taipower's Engineering. He currently serves as Chair of the Combustion Institute of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
